Tree characteristics: hardy, upright-spreading to spreading, vigorous; leaves: elliptic, double serrate, underside hairy, apex cuspidate, base obtuse, length : width ratio 1.6, petioles 3.0 to 3.6 cm long with long stipules when young.
Flower characteristics: Flowering starts 3 days before McIntosh in Frelighsburg. Unopened flowers are medium pink(RHS 66B); full balloon stage and the flowers are single.The long conic petals are free and mainly white with irregular patterns of pink (RHS 74C and 70D); the pedicels are green.
Fruit characteristics: medium size, average 131 g, round-conic to oblate-conic, lopsided, a bit angular; basin: very narrow to narrow, medium depth to deep, with ridges; calyx: closed to partly open, small, lobes are persistent and erect to recurved, calyx tube is funnel shaped to conical, stamens are in basal to median position; cavity: acuminate, deep to very deep, medium width, lightly russeted; stem: medium length to long, small to medium diameter, sometimes with anthocyanin pigments; core: open, in median to distant position, meeting core lines are only slightly visible; carpels: 20 mm height, 27 mm width; skin: medium thick, a bit tough, no bloom, a bit waxy on very ripe fruit, lightly blushed red on sun side over yellow to greenish-yellow ground, lenticels are surrounded by red and are conspicuous on blushed side only; flesh: juicy, firm, yellowish- to greenish-white, with a very low level of browning after cutting; flavor: aromatic, not acid, average sugar content, makes satisfactory tasting juice; end use: satisfactory yield of juice, good for sauce, acceptable for slicing, good for fresh eating; ripens September 30 (Frelighsburg, QC).
Post Harvest, storage: keeps well until January, after 2.5 months in cold storage, fruit quality is good, taste is average to good with a good aroma, fruit is firm; after 5 months in regular cold room: fruit is fairly firm (pressure test: 5.17 kg) and of average to good eating quality, flesh is juicy with a slightly granular texture, acidity is average (0.5079 %), soluble solids are average (12.1 %), juice is a good colour (pale greenish-yellow).
Other characteristics: Diseases and disorders: scab resistant, not susceptible to storage disorders.
Adaptation & availability: Good for Quebec and Eastern and Central Canada. A limited number of budwood is available from the breeder after signing a non-propagation agreement (only to universities and research stations).
