characteristics: hardy, upright-spreading, very weak to weak vigor;
leaves: lanceolate, serrate, sometimes double serrate, underside hairy, apex acute, base
obtuse, length : width ratio 1.85, petioles are heavily pigmented and 1.5 to 3.0 cm long.

characteristics: attractive, size varies from medium to large, weight from
109 to 185 g, not symmetrical, oblate-conic, can be vaguely ribbed in some fruit; basin:
downy, medium depth to deep, narrow, ribbed to puckered like Spartan; calyx: mainly closed
to sometimes partly open, lobes are persistent and erect, calyx tube is conical, stamens
are in median position; cavity: acute, medium depth and width, is slightly russeted in 75
% of fruit; stem: very variable, mainly short to medium length, sometimes long, thin to
medium diameter, with anthocyanin pigments; core: position is slightly distant, closed to
partly open, with clasping core lines; carpels: 15 mm height, 17 mm width; skin: medium
thickness, washed dark red fading to slightly paler red on side away from sun, over green
ground, average amount of bloom, very conspicuous lenticels which are russeted on some
fruit; flesh: juicy, firm, crisp, coarse texture, greenish-white, with red dots around the
core, is somewhat subject to browning after cutting; flavor: slightly aromatic, a bit
bland, makes good tasting juice; end use: good to very good for fresh eating, good to
satisfactory yield of juice; ripens October 6 (Frelighsburg, QC).

storage: after 2 months in cold storage: fruit quality is good to very
good, taste and aroma are good, after 4.5 months in regular cold room: fruit is firm
(pressure test: 6.16 kg) and has retained a good to very good eating quality, taste is
subacid and moderately sweet, acidity is low to average (0.4556 %), soluble solids are
average (12.2 %), juice has a nice colour (salmon with a light orange hue).
- Other
characteristics: Diseases and disorders: apple scab resistant, resistant
to bitter pit and water core.
- Adaptation &
availability: Good for Quebec and
Eastern and Central Canada. A limited number of budwood is available from the breeder
after signing a non-propagation agreement (only to universities and research stations).
