Tree characteristics: hardy, spreading, moderately vigorous, productive; leaves: cordate to elliptic, with small teeth, double serrate, underside slightly hairy, apex cuspidate, base obtuse to slightly cordate, sometimes a little oblique, length : width ratio 1.47, petioles 2.0 to 3.0 cm long with small stipules when young.
Flower characteristics:
Fruit characteristics: medium size, average 125 g, variable shape, oblate-conic to round-conic, slightly ribbed on body, often lopsided; basin: medium depth and width, a little wrinkled, with light russet dots around calyx; calyx: mainly open, sometimes only partly open, lobes are persistent and erect, calyx tube is funnel-shaped, stamens are in basal position; cavity: deep, medium width, acute to acuminate, russeted; stem: short to medium length, medium diameter; core: partially open, in median position; carpels: 17 mm height, 14 mm width; skin: thick, washed light red to dark red fading at the edges with some striping and blotches over greenish-yellow ground, average amount of bloom, high number of conspicuous white lenticels; flesh: moderately juicy, firm, white, a little green near the core; flavor: good; end use: good for fresh eating; ripens October 6 (Frelighsburg, QC).
Post Harvest, storage: after 2 months in cold storage: fruit quality is good, taste and aroma are good; after 4.5 months in regular cold room: fruit is firm (pressure test: 5.92 kg), flesh is melting with a slightly granular texture, taste is fairly acidic (0.6459 %) and sweet (soluble solids are 13.8 %), juice is pale brown and opaque.
Other characteristics: Diseases and disorders: not subject to bitter pit and water core, somewhat susceptible to scald, resistant to apple scab.
Adaptation & availability: Good for Quebec and Eastern and Central Canada. A limited number of budwood is available from the breeder after signing a non-propagation agreement (only to universities and research stations).
