Flesh remains white after being exposed to oxygen for several hours

Origin: Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec.

Tree characteristics: hardy, upright-spreading, moderately vigorous, droops a little at tip of branches because of fruit, productive, bears along the branches and at the tips; leaves: elliptic, double serrate, underside slightly hairy, apex acuminate to cuspidate, base obtuse, length : width ratio 1.77, petioles are red on one side and 2.0 to 3.0 cm long, with medium size stipules when young.
Flower characteristics: flowering starts at the same time as McIntosh in Frelighsburg. Unopened flowers are medium pink(RHS 57C); in full balloon stage and the flowers are single. The oblong petals overlap and are mainly white with irregular patterns of pale pink and pink (RHS69A and 57D); the pedicels are green.
Fruit characteristics: medium to large, average 183 g, round-conic, with slight ribbing on body; basin: narrow, deep, ribbed, can sometimes be covered with netted russet; calyx: open, lobes persistent and erect, calyx tube is urn-shaped, stamens are in basal position; cavity: acuminate, deep, medium width, with some russeting; stem: very short to short, medium width to wide; core: closed, in distant to median position, with clasping core lines; carpels: 25 mm height, 20 mm width; skin: thick, with low bruising susceptibility, washed red to dark red with some striping over green ground color, with moderate bloom and a high number of very visible, large lenticels; flesh: very firm, lightly creamy-white with a bit of red just below the skin, with visible dots around the core, not subject to browning for several hours after being cut with a stainless steel knife; flavor: good; end use: good for fresh eating; ripens October 10 (Frelighsburg, QC).
Post Harvest, storage: after 5 months in regular cold room: fruit is firm (pressure test: 6.43 kg), eating quality is good, acidity is low (0.2144 %), soluble solids are high (14.0 %), juice is light orange-salmon color.
Other characteristics: Diseases and disorders: not susceptible to water core; a bit hard to pick because of short stem, resistant to apple scab.
Adaptation & avalability: Good for Quebec and Eastern and Central Canada. A limited number of budwood is available from the breeder after signing a non-propagation agreement (only to universities and research stations).
